Project: A tool to personalize the news experience for consumers seeking context in a 24-7 news cycle.
Marie-Catherine Beuth, like many French youth, was a fan of the comic series “Tintin,” about a reporter aided by his faithful fox terrier. She dreamed of being a cartoonist. But at age 14, after a two-week internship at a weekly newspaper for youngsters, she decided she wanted to be a reporter. By 19, she had her first article published in a French national publication, the adult version of the youth weekly. She earned a master’s degree in media and multimedia from Université Paris in 2003. During college, she freelanced, writing critiques of books, comics and manga and covering movie news. A year after graduating, she got a job at Le Figaro. Because of her youth, many of the stories she was assigned related to online media. Her beat grew into one of the most exciting because it touched on a wide range of industries. She also wrote a news blog, which was adapted to a weekly radio show on Radio France Internationale.
