Project: Research the use of image forensic tools to identify manipulation in potential news photographs.

Samaruddin Stewart started his career ahead of the digital curve. His first job was creating digital photographs, streaming video and associated multimedia for The Arizona Republic’s website – an innovative position in 2000. He covered the NFL, NBA, PGA and dozens of top news stories using Canon’s first digital video camera. But it would be several years before web video penetrated the wider news audience. So he went back to school for a master’s degree in communication at his alma mater, Arizona State University. After graduating, he worked for Agence France-Presse then joined America Online as it was expanding ts editorial operations. Over six years, he moved up the ranks to direct photo coverage for AOL News, Sports, and Entertainment. But yearning for new challenges and recognizing that journalism needed new business strategies, he went back to school. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Central European University in Budapest in 2011.
