Knight Fellows win two IAPA awards

Knight Fellowship journalists won two of the 11 awards given by the Inter American Press Association at its 60th annual General Assembly in Antigua, Guatemala in October.

Susan Ferriss, Cox Newspapers' Mexico City correspondent and currently a Knight Fellow at Stanford, won the Inter-American Relations Pedro Joaquin Chamorro award. The award was given for her series, "Broken Promises: How Economic Reforms Have Failed Mexico."

Gary Marx, Havana correspondent for the Chicago Tribune and a 2001-02 Knight Fellow, won the Human Rights and Community Service award, for his coverage of the Cuban crackdown in 2003 on independent journalists, laborers and other dissidents.
