Diane Middlebrook
Diane Middlebrook, former Program Committee member, dies in SF at 68
Stanford English Professor and author Diane Middlebrook, who had connected strongly with dozens of Knight Fellows during her career, died of cancer on Saturday, Dec. 15. Among her many connections to the Knight Fellowships program was serving on its Program Commmittee, which selects the U.S. fellows, from 1998 to 2004.
"Diane Middlebrook was a good friend and ally of journalism fellows at Stanford," said James Bettinger, director of the Knight Fellowships program. "She welcomed them into her classes, drew on their investigative expertise for some of her research and nurtured them in their writing projects, even after they left the university. She was an insightful and forceful member of our Program Committe, and we will miss her enormously."
